The well-known proverb that states, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime." Applied to training it means: you can provide facts you believe are essential to a learner's success on the job (i.e. give a man a fish) or you can teach the learner how to acquire those facts and data using resources on the job (i.e. teach the man to fish).

Furthermore, participants will engage in a discussion about the steps they take to create such an environment for learners in their organization and the results this approach has produced.
